About Us
The Story Behind Our Brand
Our journey began not just with rugs, but with a story that shaped the way we see life and home. As children, we experienced the kindness of strangers from across the ocean — Americans who came to teach us English and live among us in our small mountain village. Tapia, who stayed in our house, left us with lessons in music, warmth, and sincerity. These memories became part of the foundation of Tervannor®, reminding us that true quality is not only what you touch underfoot, but also the friendships and values woven into it. Back in the late 1990s, life in our village was simple and quiet. Our meals were plain, the roads turned muddy after rain, and there were no showers, only outdoor pit toilets. But Tapia and the others never complained. They laughed with us, shared our food, and taught us songs in the old school classroom. Growing up in a place that often felt gray, their arrival was like a storm of color and warmth breaking into my life. Their laughter was unrestrained, their kindness genuine, their hearts full of love. The impact was overwhelming — as if a whole new world had suddenly opened in front of me. Years later, by luck, I reconnected with Tapia. Since then, we have stayed in touch. Over time, she became less of a teacher and more like an old friend to me and my family. My father still remembers her deeply — from when his hair was black to now when it has turned white, it has been decades since we last met. This experience shaped not only my view of the world but also my standards in life and business. When my wife and I, both trained in textile engineering, founded Tervannor®, we carried those values forward. To us, a rug is not just a product — it’s a part of home. That is why I have always been clear in my standard: I only choose rugs that are thick, durable, and practical. Many rugs in the U.S. market are thin, but I believe a good rug should feel steady, solid, and comfortable underfoot — without the need for an extra pad. To ensure this, we work only with certified factories we can trust. That is also why I chose to focus only on the United States. I like America — the openness, the modern spirit, the way of life. It is not just a market to me, but a place that has inspired me since my youth. My greatest hope is that one day I can finally meet Tapia again in America. After all these years, it would not just be a reunion, but a moment filled with warmth, friendship, and the feeling that time has never truly separated us.
